The Rural Internet Connectivity System (RICS) is a specially designed, low cost broadband VSAT solution for remote and rural locations. It is also low powered, so that small solar power supplies can be used (an important feature in many rural Pacific Islands locations where there is no grid power available).

Based on a 1.2m Ku band antenna with high quality Shiron modem and InterSKY satellite networking, RICS are installed easily and quickly, and provide years of reliable connectivity. The 1.2m system is capable of download speeds up to 3Mbps, and a range of bandwidth options are available starting from 256/128 at 10:1 contention upwards. Fixed price or per MB billing are available, as are options for 1.2 or 1.8m dish and 2,3 or 5W BUC.

This system is ideal for connection-sharing partnerships, where communities, schools, local business and individuals partner to share the costs and the benefits of broadband. We can provide support for such partnerships including project management, and e-inclusive applications and training.
